Five photographers, gifted with naturally exceptional talents in the field of photography and digital arts, have come together to give back their blessings by staging an exhibit of their works and creations. Benefiting charitable causes like the Palcare, the Abandoned Elderly &amp; Unwed Mothers of the Sanctuary of St. Philomena and the Philam Catholic Community, the exhibition will run from March 28 to April 18 at the Philam Life Building in Manila. It was a fun weekend of street dancing and paying homage to the Santo Niño. The group was composed of Chito Cleofas, Noel Amata, Arnie Aranjuez, Rellie Lopez, Nick Olayao, Rose Razon, Edwin Loyola, Caloy Zamora, Willy Siy, Nowell Trinidad, Katherine Adriano, Gina Alcera, Michelle Baretto, Med Ferrer, Roselyn Roldan, Rosy Villasanta-Ibay, and yours truly. With a fiery sun blazing away in the morning and rains drenching everyone in the afternoon and the night, we nevertheless braved the elements and produced an exciting collection of images of the Sinulog Festival. Your mind would have to be preoccuppied with other things for you not to notice the image, and you'd have to be insensitive not to stop and take a long second look. "Showstopper": that's what characterizes most images born in the fertile mind of Edwin. He pushes colors to their limits without getting them gaudy, and plays with familiar objects in a way that makes them look new, never seen before. Working with only one or two elements is often a mountain of a challenge to photographers, both advanced and novice, because bare, minimalist sets look so unfinished, making it difficult to stop adding elements. Try it next time, with only two or three everyday objects, and you'll see what we mean.
