Pere Freixa - Catalunya (España)


Nacido en 1966, es licenciado en Bellas Artes por la Universidad de Barcelona en la especialidad de imagen (1989), es profesor e investigador de la Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Imparte docencia de fotografía y fotografía digital en los estudios de Comunicación Audiovisual. Ha coordinado y dirigido diferentes cursos y postgrados sobre imagen y fotografía digital, dirección de arte y diseño en Internet. Como Investigador participa en el grupo de investigación EIC (experimentación en Comunicación Interactiva) participando en proyectos de ideación y desarrollo de modelos interactivos culturales y educativos.
Desde 1996, junto a Mar Redondo, empieza la realización de proyectos fotográficos que se han expuesto y presentado en diversas salas y que se han publicado en: Los objetos de este espejo están más cerca de lo que parece, Actar, Barcelona, 1997, ISBN: 8489698279. Sacha Dean Biyan - Canadá

Sacha Dean Biyan is an international gypsy who speaks five languages and has lived in the US, Canada, Europe, Asia and Latin America. He grew up and went to university in Montreal where he earned a Master’s degree in aeronautical engineering. He worked as a consultant in the aerospace industry for over ten years before diverting his attention fulltime to photography.

Biyan now works as a fashion photographer and photojournalist specializing in high-end editorial, advertising, fine art and travel photography. His images have appeared in numerous publications, and he has shot for clients such as Sony Music, Adidas, Lexus, the Gap and Discovery. He has exhibited his work in Florence, Paris, Barcelona, Tokyo and Sao Paulo, and his images are also held in several private collections. He is also the author of the fine art book ‘Spiritus Mundi’, a culmination of seven years of travel to some of the most remote corners of the globe.

Susana Pérez Tort - Argentina

Nace en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires en 1951. En 1971 se gradúa en la Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes Manuel Belgrano y en 1974 como Profesora de Escultura en la Escuela de Bellas Artes Prilidiano Pueyrredón, Buenos Aires. Es titular de la Cátedra de Historia del Arte en la Escuela Superior de Formación en Arte. San Nicolás de los Arroyos. Investigadora y columnista del Diario El Norte, San Nicolás y de Rosariarte, Rosario, Santa Fe. Como narradora ha merecido el 1º Premio en el Certamen Cuentos para Mujeres organizado por la ONG CEIM, 2º Premio Feria del Libro San Nicolás de los Arroyos y Mención Especial del Jurado en Premio Santa Clara del Mar.
Desde 1999 produce obra digital, animación e imagen fija.



Voting, jury and prizes

Everyone visiting the www.festimage.org website by 31 May 2006 can vote on the works accepted into the contest, as per the method shown at the said website;

By 5 June 2006, those contestants whose works are among the 50 vote-getters, as selected by the public, and who shall be immediately notified thereof, shall resend their works to the organizers of Festimage.

Contestants may not vote on the work with which they have entered the contest;

The jury, whose members may not participate, shall be made up of individuals of any nationality and whom organizers recognize as having technical and artistic merit, and who shall accept to take part in the even, free of charge;

Organizers shall provide the jury with the top 50 works, as voted by the public, and which have met the requirements set forth under no. 15 of the present rules;

The top five works, as selected by the jury, shall be awarded the following prizes:


1st prize - 5.000,00 €
2nd prize - 2.500,00 €
3rd prize - 1.000,00 €
4th prize - 750,00 €
5th prize - 500,00 €

Results of the jury’s decision shall be announced on the www.festimage.org during the month of June;

If, within 60 days after being notified that he/she has won one of the prized, a prize-winning contestant does not reply to organizers, or does not provide organizers with those identification data that they asked to give, he/she shall no longer be entitled to such a prize, which shall be paid only via bank transfer

ABOUT FESTIMAGE....

Festimage is an event promoted by City Council of Chaves, a city located in the north of Portugal.
In realizing Festimage, the Municipality of Chaves basically wishes to achieve two objectives: to divulge, among city residents and visitors, the art of photography and digital art and, in taking advantage of the communication facilities provided by the Internet, to include authors from the most diverse origins in this divulging initiative.

The works that are accepted in Festimage shall be divulged in various ways. For starters, the Internet, where they will remain online until the next edition of the event. Afterwards, the 50 works garnering the most votes on the part of users of the Festimage site shall be reproduced on paper and shall comprise a traditional exhibit, to be organized at the city's Cultural Center from 8 to 31 July 2006. At the same time, some of the finalists shall be enlarged to bigger formats and shall remain on display until the end of the summer, in a few streets and squares in the city’s historical center. Finally – and also during the summer months, at night – all the works that are accepted shall be on multimedia display in leisure areas of the city where all the most frequently visited sidewalk cafés and bars are found.
The expected multiplicity of the authors' origins, as well as the multiplicity of the ways in which they will be shown, put on display and exhibited, will shape the festival’s image which the event designation advertises.

The only way to enter Festimage is via this web site. The photographers and creators of still digital art just have to register and send us one of their works. And the top 50 vote-getters, to be voted on by the jury – which will classify the 5 best works – will only have to re-send them in a larger format, so that they may be printed and enlarged.

For their part, visitors to the site who wish to take part in the voting to select the top 50 works will also only need to register.
